Navigating the New I-9 Form Requirements

I-9 Form UPDATES:

We’ve got some important news to share. Starting November 1, 2023, there were new Form I-9 requirements that all employers need to be aware of. The revised Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, with the edition date 08/01/23, is now the only accepted version for completing the employment eligibility verification process. This updated form reflects the option for eligible employers to verify employment eligibility remotely, which can be a game-changer for many organizations.

This edition is available now, and all previous versions will no longer be accepted. It’s crucial to ensure that you’re using the correct 08/01/23 edition of Form I-9, as failing to do so may lead to penalties. We want to make sure you’re well-informed and prepared to handle this change effectively, which is why we’re here to help you.

Maintaining compliance with I-9 Form and E-Verify regulations is more critical than ever.

Compliance is not just a legal obligation; it’s a vital step in reducing risk and mitigating potential liabilities for your organization. The consequences of non-compliance can be severe, including costly fines and potential criminal penalties.

Did you know that 76% of paper Form I-9s have at least one fineable error? That’s a staggering statistic, and it highlights the importance of keeping your Form I-9 process organized and compliant. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) can fine up to $2,332 per substantive Form I-9 error, and these fines can add up quickly.

Compliance isn’t just about avoiding legal trouble; it’s also about fostering a culture of responsibility and trust within your workforce. When your employees know that you’re committed to following the law and maintaining accurate records, it creates a positive work environment where everyone understands their rights and responsibilities.
